Precision Engineered for Critical Applications.
We merge the precision of code with the power of design, orchestrating a single identity that signals authority everywhere.
Our Heritage
Precision Resistor Company was founded in 1932 in Hillside, New Jersey, at the dawn of the modern electronics era. For over nine decades, PRC has specialized in one thing: the design and manufacture of high-quality, custom wire wound electrical components for critical applications. Our product line — precision resistors, temperature sensors, and current sensing shunts — serves engineers and OEMs in defense, aerospace, medical devices, test and measurement, industrial controls, and telecommunications.
In 1985, PRC relocated its manufacturing operations to the Tampa Bay area of Florida to accommodate growth. Many of the company’s New Jersey employees made the move, a testament to the culture and commitment that has always defined PRC. Today, our manufacturing facility in Clearwater, Florida produces every component domestically, with all products designed, wound, tested, and shipped from a single ISO 9001-registered location.
Part of Electro Technik Industries
In 2021, PRC was acquired by Electro Technik Industries, Inc. (ETI), a privately held company headquartered in Clearwater, Florida that has specialized in passive electronic components since its founding in 1981. ETI owns and operates 15+ subsidiary companies organized into three business groups: Capacitive & Resistive Products, RF/Microwave Components, and Magnetics & Transformers.
The acquisition brought PRC into a family of manufacturers with deep complementary capabilities. For customers designing systems that require both precision resistive components and custom magnetics, ETI’s structure enables a coordinated, multi-company approach. ETI’s magnetics subsidiaries — including Hytronics, Raycom Electronics, Inductive Technologies (I-Tech), and Winatic Corporation — manufacture power transformers, flyback transformers, common mode chokes, EMI-shielded inductors, toroidal and pot core inductors, and a broad range of surface mount magnetics. Combined with PRC’s wire wound resistive products, ETI offers a vertically integrated passive component resource under one corporate umbrella.

ETI’s model is distinctive: each subsidiary company operates as a stand-alone manufacturer with independent design, manufacturing, and sales teams, preserving the specialized expertise and responsiveness that customers expect. At the same time, the subsidiaries share resources, capital equipment, and manufacturing capabilities, allowing ETI to route customer requirements to the best-fit set of resources across its portfolio.
What We Build
PRC’s core competency is custom wire wound components for direct current (DC) electrical circuits. Every product we manufacture is built to customer specifications using artificially aged wire and hot-tinned commercially pure copper terminals. Key product families include precision power resistors (2-terminal and 4-terminal Kelvin configurations), ultra-precision and reference-grade resistors for metrology and calibration applications, current sensing shunts in both surface mount and through-hole packages, and temperature-sensitive RTD sensors and compensators.
- Precision Power Resistors
- Reference-Grade Resistors
- Current Sensing Shunts
- Temperature Sensors
Our components feature resistance values from 0.001Ω to 10MΩ, tolerances as tight as ±0.005%, temperature coefficients to 0±1 ppm/°C, and long-term stability of ±0.001%/year. We manufacture in both axial lead (through-hole) and surface mount formats, with delivery available in bulk or tape-and-reel packaging.
Our Commitment
PRC manufactures all products in the United States using environmentally responsible techniques. Our products are compliant with RoHS and REACH directives and we maintain full conflict minerals documentation. Every component is 100% acceptance tested at +25°C and traceable to production records. Whether you need five pieces for a development prototype or tens of thousands for a production run, we manufacture with the same standards and test every unit to specified limits.
